GAUDET Luce Golf Club proudly hosted The William Hunt Trilby Tour Championship of Worcestershire which saw the Sky Sports cameras come to town.
The expert green keeping team at the Droitwich-based club had been working to ensure golfers stepped onto a beautifully maintained course which saw 144 golfers and their caddies bidding for glory.
With the first tee off being 6.45am, the first golfers faced a challenging start as the rain poured down.
However, with the support of the green keeper team the tournament continued to run as scheduled.
Players continued to tee off until 2pm, which by then, the weather had started to clear up, revealing the picturesque course at its best.
Golfers played over 18 holes keeping an eye on the score boards and competition, to reveal the top players who would then move into the play offs, the highest score on the day being 38.
The three-hole play-off was a battle between the top 4 golfers which included Gaudet Luce’s very own Mark Stokes, with even more spectators taking to the course.
The play-off ended in an intense tie breaker on the 18th to reveal the 2017 Worcestershire Champion, who will now play at the International Grand Final in August.
Gaudet Luce director Alec Fernihough said: “The Trilby Tour Championship of Worcestershire has been a superb experience and it was great to see so many people here enjoying the course and facilities, both as competitors and spectators, despite a rather damp start to the day.
“Having one of our members in the winner’s playoff was superb and the great number of complimentary comments about the day have made the hard work of our team of staff and volunteers worthwhile.
“Congratulations to them for having made the day a huge success.”
