SARAH MAJOR has been appointed the new manager of Droitwich Spa Belles.
Major joins a very small group of female managers and coaches involved in women’s football in the West Midlands and takes charge of her first match on Sunday in a friendly against Welland Ladies.
The Belles then start their new season on Sunday, September 4 in the opening round of the Bill Allsopp Memorial Trophy against Cookley Sports Ladies.
Major then takes charge of her first Midwest Counties League Division One game on Sunday, September 11 against Welland.
She said: “I am thrilled at the opportunity to manage a local team in women’s football and to take on this role at Droitwich Spa Ladies FC.
“I can’t wait to get started with the Belles team.”
Club chairman Ian Fry, who also manages Droitwich Spa Ladies in Division One (South) of the West Midlands Regional League, said Major’s experience will make a huge difference to the Belles team.
He added: “We are delighted to announce that Sarah Major has joined our coaching team as manager of Droitwich Spa Belles.
“Sarah is a very experienced player and well-qualified qualified coach and has vast experience of women’s football.
“I am sure that she will make a huge difference to each of the individual players in the Belles’ squad and the team as a whole. “Everyone at the club is very excited about the start of this new chapter in our club’s continued development.”
