Morrish proud after Kazoku-Kan flourish in opening contest

Droitwich Editorial 21st Feb, 2020   0

HEAD instructor Rich Morrish has paid tribute to his triumphant martial artists after a successful first contest of the year.

Kazoku-Kan Judo Club returned from the Midland Area Closed Championships with six golds and a silver in all, leaving Morrish beaming with pride at the efforts of the youngsters.

“Considering it was their first competition of 2020, the guys nailed it,” he said.

“It shows that the hard work they put in pays off for them, and I couldn’t be prouder to be their coach.”

Grace Moore kick-started Kazoku-Kan’s medal hunt at Erdington Academy by winning gold in her first-ever competition, a justified reward after a promising first two months at the club.

Her cousin Dylan Moore was next to reign supreme on the tatami, while Jordan Phillips, Felicity Warburton and Joshua Warburton continued the gold rush.

Liam Jones, fighting in the senior bracket, was the final member to win a gold medal, and was rewarded with a green belt after the event.

Completing the haul was Luke Phillips, who came away with silver for his efforts.
