HIMBLETON have now won their last five Worcestershire County League Division Three outings in a row after claiming a confident six-wicket victory over Barnards Green Thirds.
Skipper Sean Jenkins did the majority of the damage with the ball as the hosts were bowled out for just 167 with Kevin Golder (20), Andrew Wheeler (31) and David Sutton (18 no) contributing to the tally.
Jenkins claimed figures of 5-39 and the ever-consistent Ronnie Guy collected a tidy 4-28 on an afternoon where extras (33) top scored.
Thirteen-year-old Hamza Ali once again showed great promise and attitude as he bowled a tidy spell at a time Green’s lower oder were chancing their arm and looking for boundary shots.
Ali went without a wicket but deserved much more than his figures of five overs for 32 runs showed.
Mike Rogers (1-28) picked up the remaining wicket in a conclusive bowling display.
In reply, the in-form Alistair Pretty was the stand out performer once again as his swashbuckling 86 went to some way to securing a comfortable win within 17 overs.
Jon Critchlow supported Pretty with an eye-catching 38 but the excellent batting conditions ensured the 167 target was never going to challenge the Meadow Boys’ deep batting order.
An under-strength Himbleton entertain fourth placed Bartestree & Lugwardine on Saturday.
