Saltmen add Yeomans from Worcester City before tackling Telford Juniors

Droitwich Editorial 7th Feb, 2019   0

THE Saltmen look forward to getting back into match action this Saturday, when they travel to Telford Juniors (2pm) after an unusual start to the year.

This weekend’s fixture will prove only the fourth game Droitwich have played this calendar year, with large gaps in between their three fixtures in January before postponement against Wyrley last weekend.

Of Spa’s games played in 2019, the only league game came in the remarkable 10-0 thrashing of Bustleholme.

A 7-0 win in the reverse fixture at Walshes Meadow sees Spa enter the upcoming game as strong favourites to take all three points, with Telford sitting 16th in the league with the worst goal difference in the league on -58.

Saturday’s hosts look unlikely to change their fortunes any time soon, having been on a winless streak since September, although take heart having taken a 1-1 draw against mid-table Newport Town last time out.

A supporter’s coach for the fixture has been arranged, with a £5 fare for travelling fans, which will leave Portofino’s on Worcester Road at 12pm on the day.

Saltmen supporters will expect to see a debut for new arrival Sam Yeomans, who arrives from Worcester City.

Progressing through the youth set-up at Worcester, he appeared three times this season in their first-team in the MFL Premier Division and is rated highly by City boss John Snape.
