SKIPPER James Shewell was pleased table-topping Droitwich managed to maintain their 100 per cent winning record in Midlands Two West (South) ahead of the festive three-week break.
After securing a 24-18 victory over fellow title rivals Malvern a fortnight earlier, Shewell stressed there could be no complacency ahead of Saturday’s trip to Nuneaton Old Edwardians.
And the Salt Boys kept their feet firmly on the ground as they cruised to a comfortable 24-8 victory to make it 11 wins out of 11.
Phil Horton (2), Brad Cook and Shewell got the tries while Cook also kicked two conversions in the win.
“It was a very difficult game for us,” Shewell told the Standard.
“We could not seem to get a stranglehold of the game in the first half but after the break we controlled things.
“One of the messages before the game was that we did not want to stew over a defeat for three weeks when we have our Christmas break and the lads did well to get the right result and they deserve the break.”
Droitwich, who have a six-point lead over Malvern at the top of the table, return to action on January 6 when they entertain Silhillians.
