BARNT Green skier Siena Horton continues to shine on the national stage as she claimed a podium place at the English Alpine Championships in Italy.
The 12-year-old finished second in the Girl’s U14 Slalom which saw her become one of the star performers from the West Midlands on the Stelvio piste in Bormio.
The championships is a key event on the national skiing calendar and is well known as a platform for the rising stars of skiing, including the likes of Chemmy Alcott and Dave Ryding who is currently competing on the World Cup circuit.
The Bromsgrove School pupil said she was delighted to come away with a medal and has now set her sights on winning the inter-school championships.
“I wasn’t too confident with my slalom run, but I definitely surprised myself and skied well to finish second,” she said.
“All my teammates are brilliant as they have really pushed me and everyone brings the best out of each other.
“I’m going to the Brits then I’ll be racing for Bromsgrove School at the inter-schools championships in a couple of weeks as they like that.”
