Teenage Droitwich swimmer Richards comes third in open adult final at Swim Wales Winter Championships

Droitwich Editorial 6th Dec, 2017   0

THERE was more success for Droitwich Spa swimming ace Matt Richards who came third in the open adult final at the Swim Wales Winter Championships.

The 14-year-old travelled to Swansea to take part in the 200m freestyle (long course) and in his heat he broke the all-time British record for his age group of one minute, 53.34 seconds – clocking 1.52.27.

Due to the nature of his fast time Richards was not put in the 11-14yrs or 15-16yrs final, he was put into the adult final.

Richards proved to be more than competitive, coming third behind two 21-year-olds with a stunning time of 1.51.29.
