THREE powerlifters from Physique Fitness gym in Droitwich punched above their weight to take home glory at the British Masters Powerlifting Championships in Lincoln.
The father and son duo of Clive and Matt Lingard both won their classes, while Jasminka O’Hora took a third place in her first appearance in the Championships.
Clive, a defending British champion at the age of 74-years-old, moved up a weight class to battle it out in the M4 105kg category in this year’s tournament.
He recorded a number of personal bests in the 120kg squat, 110kg bench press and 190kg deadlift, totalling 420kg overall to complete another Championship win.
Competing in tandem with his father was Matt in the M1 93kg class, who hoped to improve on a second-place in 2018 and claim a third British title.
Matt completed both of his aims, lifting 235kg in the squad, bench-pressing 152.5kg and finishing with a 235kg deadlift to total 622.5kg and rank first.
Meanwhile, O’Hora decided to press on with her first appearance at the Championships despite suffering with illness a day beforehand.
Her decision proved to be correct, as she completed a 110kg squat, a 70kg bench press and a 132.5kg deadlift for a 312.5kg total, meaning she ranked third and took home a bronze medal.
