FELICITY Warburton from Kazoku-Kan Judo Club in Droitwich won a gold medal against an all-male lineup at Erdington Academy recently.
The club took a group of students to the Mix and Match competition, where Warburton and four other fighters excelled to bring home medals for the club yet again.
Warburton held her own against tough competition, and came out on top to deservedly win gold, whilst Dylan Moore displayed a similarly brave showing – despite being one of the smallest in his category – to earn a bronze medal.
He pulled off a notable backwards counter throw in his bronze medal fight, and will be pleased with the progress that he is making.
Matthew Kenny was next up on the mat, putting in a good performance to take bronze medal, whilst Joshua Warburton performed well on the ground to also earn a bronze.
Liam Jones completed a sweep of medals for the club in only his second senior contest, despite having to take on higher graded and more experienced opponents.
He proved his worth to the other fighters, fighting well and escaping a well-executed leg grab to take a bronze for his efforts.
Head instructor at the club Rich Morrish praised the application of his fighters throughout the tournament.
“It never fails to bring a smile to my face to see the grace and positive attitude these kids bring to these events, they are a joy to teach and they are showing that training pays off,” he said.
“Our instructing team are very proud of their accomplishments and they are a credit to the club.”
