We won't rush to replace Crisp and Bridges, vows Droitwich Spa joint-boss Oliver

DROITWICH Spa joint-boss Wayne Oliver stressed there would be no panic in making new signings after losing midfielder Max Crisp and striker Louis Bridges.

Both have joined Midland League Division Three sides Alcester Town and FC Stratford respectively but Oliver told the Standard there will be no rush to replace them.

“Our mentality is that we always we remain calm over transfers,” he said.

“We will just wait until after Christmas when teams with backing have their budgets pulled and the players decide to leave.

“There is no mileage in just signing players for the sake of it.

“There is no reason to panic and we will just bide our time.”

After having Saturday’s Midland League Division Two clash against Knowle postponed due to the heavy snow, Spa will be hoping the weather stays kind to them on Saturday when they make the trip to local rivals Feckenham.

The Millers beat Spa 1-0 in October and Oliver is hoping for a much better performance this time around.

“We need to try and get back to some normality in terms of our shape and work rate,” he added.

“Feckenham have proved their worth this year so it is going to be a very tough game for us.”

Saturday’s postponement also means the Saltmen now only have one more opportunity of getting their first league win at their new Walshes Meadow home.

Spa will look to end their home woes next Saturday when they entertain Moors Academy.
